It’s muscle memory, really. Constant attention by design. Every moment of possible rest and reflection filled with stimulation. Locked in a quiet room where no-one can disrupt us—a rare moment of zen in this chaotic world—we choose to lock in.

...so what is Bowl Buddy, really?
We created Bowl Buddy as a joke and a confession. A finger pointed at the world around us and directly in the mirror at ourselves. “Do you use the phone on the toilet? I sure do! Wouldn’t it be crazy if there was a device to support our habit? Like a phone holder in our car… but, like, for your toilet? LOLOL That would be so dumb! Wait… Should we actually make one?”
An absurd product for an absurd time. The perfect artifact to represent our age in the museums of the future. We want to see a Bowl Buddy at the MoMA. We want it sent into space to explain Earth to more intelligent life forms.
Maybe that’s something. Maybe highlighting the foolishness breaks the spell a little bit. Satire and performance art as social commentary. Maybe saying the quiet part out loud can muster up a little bit of optimism, a little self-awareness. Some joy in the form of a gag gift given to a friend or uncle.
Let’s poke a little fun together. Let’s laugh at the ridiculousness of this modern life - it’s more fun than crying. And maybe one day we’ll live in a world that has no need for Bowl Buddy.
